Hands-On - The New Pasha de Cartier Chronograph With Grey Dial
The story of Pasha de Cartier dates back to the 1930s and involves claims that the Pasha of Marrakesh ordered an elegant watch to match his royal status that could also be worn in his swimming pool. Such a Cartier timepiece, according to legend, was created and many decades later served as an inspiration for the Pasha de Cartier collection, unveiled in 1985. Documents have yet to confirm the 1930s claims, and the original watch cannot be found. Still, we know who was responsible for the 1985 creation – design guru Gerald Genta, father to many iconic models. Available since last year in a bold chronograph version, it comes back with an even sportier edition with a grey dial.By 1990, the Pasha de Cartier collection had become a hit, offering complications, including perpetual calendar watches. Genta’s design provided Cartier with its first genuinely round-cased watch and secured the Maison’s presence in the sports watches segment. Pasha watches were offered with 100m wa

Pre-SIHH: Introducing the Richard Mille RM 33-01 Automatic - Monochrome-Watches
The ballet of the SIHH (the Geneva watch fair) novelties just began. One of the first to come with a new timepiece is?Richard Mille, a brand that we do love here at Monochrome-Watches for its exclusivity:?unusual design and spirit, exclusive materials, astonishing finishing, distinctive complications and innovations. If most of the watches made by Richard Mille are highly?masculine, with a strong design, the brand also knows how to create more reasonable (by RM standards of course) watches. And that’s what?the new Richard Mille RM 33-01 Automatic is, a round, thin watch with a less sporty?approach.Don’t be fooled by our?introduction. When we say that the?Richard Mille RM 33-01 Automatic is reasonable, we have to keep in mind that we are talking about a RM. Don’t imagine that the movement is simple or less finished. Of course, it is not as crazy as a?Richard Mille RM 022 Aerodyne Dual Time Zone – with its dial and movement’s plates made of carbon nanotubes
Panerai Radiomir 1940 Military Green 2019 Collection PAM00995, PAM00997, PAM00998 and PAM00999 (Specs & Price)
Panerai watches and their military roots need no introduction anymore. The brand, founded in Florence, Italy, supplied military forces only for more than half a century. This background is part of the brand’s DNA and most of the design elements have been created with military requirements in mind. Today, the brand pays tribute to its history as the sole supplier of wristwatches to the Royal Italian Navy, with a collection of four classic Radiomir watches dressed in matte military green. Meet the PAM00995, PAM00997, PAM00998 and PAM00999.Common visual codesPanerai, also known as Officine Panerai, has been available to the public only since 1993. Still, the brand has a long and rich history, however, only for military purposes, in particular with the Royal Italian Navy. The main step in Panerai's history will occur in 1916 after Guido Panerai (grandson of the founder) took over the family business and created Radiomir, a self-luminous material that allowed to see the time in the da
Ochs & Junior Calendario CentAnni Perpetual Calendar
Where other brands choose the path of complexity and try to outdo one another in parts count, Ochs & Junior goes the opposite direction. In a literal pursuit of simplicity, the independent watchmaking brand is famous for doing extremely creative things with as little as possible. This includes an Annual Calendar with only three moving parts and an extremely accurate moon phase indication using only five components. Slightly breaking with tradition, as the latest series of watches will not be customisable, Ochs & Junior continues its dedication to simplification with the new Ochs & Junior Calendario Cent'Anni CCA Perpetual Calendar.Collectors and enthusiasts familiar with the brand will know the history and philosophy, yet it remains a fascinating story to tell. Ochs & Junior is the brainchild of Dr Ludwig Oechslin, a legendary name in the watchmaking world. The Ulysse Nardin Freak is widely regarded as his biggest achievement since it was the first production watch ever
