A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual White Gold Grey Dial - Review (Specs & Price)
In 1999, German watch manufacturer A. Lange & Sohne introduced the genre-defining Datograph, an in-house mechanical chronograph that many still regard as THE best in its class. So, how does one improve on the ultimate purist chronograph? Well, if you're A. Lange & Sohne, you make it even more complicated, which is exactly what it did in 2006 with the introduction of the Datograph Perpetual (this one). To this day, debate still rages among collectors as to which is the more desirable. There seems to be one point however that just about everyone can agree on: the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual is one seriously incredible timepiece. To show you exactly why, we're going in-depth with the white gold/grey dial version introduced in 2015.Before we break the Datograph Perpetual down into its various components (case, dial, movement, etc.), it's worthwhile taking a step back and viewing it as the gorgeous whole that it is. Aesthetically, it's hard to point to a more versatile
Hands-on - Andreas Strehler Papillon Sauterellea Lune Exacte - The Most Precise MoonPhase Wristwatch Ever - Monochrome Watches
Watchmakers are like all?boys. When it comes to numbers, being first or having the greatest is always better – even if having the biggest (watch of course…) is not always desirable. Watchmakers always looked for the most complicated watch, for the watch with the most features, for the most precise movement or for the lightest case. And even when it comes to a specific complication, being the most accurate?is a very good marketing argument – which of course always implies stupendous technical developments and immense watchmaking skills. In terms of MoonPhase, the title for the most precise was already in the hands of?Andreas Strehler, but it’s now even better with his?new?Papillon Sauterellea Lune Exacte.Technical reminder: the precision of the MoonPhase indicationWhat is a moon phase indication? Well, as we explained to you in our Technical Perspective article, a moonphase watch tends to reproduce the age of the moon, indicating it via a?wheel with 59 teeth (2 x
Hublot - An extraordinary breed of watches - Monochrome Watches
Hublot has yet to make its first ordinary watch. When introduced to the world in 1980 by creator and founder Carlo Crocco it might as well had come from a different planet.A golden watch with a unusual yet distinctive port hole design on a vanilla scented rubber strap. As hot as this combo is nowadays, so not it was in the early 1980's. But this creation was not lost for the world because it was embraced by a group of early adaptors. This group included the King of Spain, Juan Carlos, who became an avid fan of Hublot. This is also one of the reasons why Spain is still one of Hublot's premier markets and it is rumored that their sales figures there even beat . Just Because - Berd Vaye Horological Sculptures
The horological landscape is a complex and interesting one, filled with not only mechanical marvels for your wrist but also myriad other interrelated products. The connection with some, such as watch winders, is obvious, whilst others are a little more abstract. Berd Vaye horological sculptures definitely fit into this latter category, displaying vintage watch parts from around the world in a whole new light.Wearable ArtThe modern renaissance of mechanical watchmaking (i.e. post-quartz crisis), brought with it a strong focus on the artistic and aesthetic elements of timekeeping. In many ways, these elements comprise the luxury' aspect of luxury watches. The use of hi-tech materials, for example, is often as much about the look and feel as it is about the practical advantages of using such materials. This is not a bad thing, mind you, indeed it has ensured the survival of the industry. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
