Hands-On - Cartier Drive de Cartier Extra Flat in Steel (Specs & Price)
In 2016, Cartier, the master of beautifully shaped cases, introduced a stylish dress watch for men; the Cartier Drive. Offered in gold or steel, it was an instant hit. Hot on the heels of this initial success, came the Drive Extra Flat in 2017, an even more refined and attractive dress watch that really turned our heads. Unlike the earlier Drive models, however, this beauty was only available in precious metals and, consequently, came with a rather hefty price tag. This year, however, we are pleased to say that Cartier has introduced the Drive Extra Flat in steel, and it is quite an attractive package at that.In the highly competitive world of ultra-thin watches - think the insane 2mm Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept or the Bulgari Octo Finissimo - the Cartier Drive Extra Flat appears comparatively thick at 6.6mm. On the wrist, however, it is superb. Perfectly proportioned with the 38mm high by 39mm wide case, with just enough weight that you know it's there without being intrusive

Baselworld 2019 - Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N (Hands-On, Specs & Price)
When Tudor first introduced its Black Bay Chrono model in 2017, there was a hullabaloo about incorporating chronograph functions on board a 200m water-resistant vintage-inspired dive watch. A diver without a rotating bezel replaced by a fixed tachymeter scale for the chronograph functions? For many, the combination of functions was unwarranted but over time, the initial animosity was replaced by enthusiasm. For 2019, the Black Bay Chrono is back in a 41mm bold two-tone steel and gold model with a host of bracelet and strap choices. The Midas TouchThe steel and gold case is by no means a novelty; Frank reviewed the Black Bay S&G model two years ago and predicted the unexpected return to two-tone case combinations. Following suit, the 41mm steel case of the new Black Bay Chrono S&G model is spruced up with yellow gold pushers (screwed to ensure the 200m water-resistance) along with a fixed (non-rotating) bezel in yellow gold with a black anodised aluminium insert for the tachymetr
SIHH 2017 - IWC Da Vinci Chronograph Edition Laureus Sport (Price)
Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few weeks you should already be aware that 2017 is the year of the Da Vinci for IWC. In layman's terms that means that Schaffhausen-based manufacturer has completely overhauled the Da Vinci collection this year, complete with a return to the more traditional (and in my opinion, more attractive) round case. Included within this newly revamped collection is the Da Vinci Chronograph Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, a special watch with an ulterior motive. Read on to find out what it is.New models will be coming thick and fast from IWC at SIHH 2017 however one in particular stands out; the Da Vinci Chronograph Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Sure, it's not the most complicated model in the new collection, or even the most exciting to be completely honest but it can do something none of the other watches can; help people. Disadvantaged children and young people to be exact. Part of the proceeds from the sale of each wa
Back to basics: the Patek Philippe Ref 5370 Split-Seconds Chronograph - REVIEW with live photos, specs & price - Monochrome-Watches
Sometimes, it happens that Patek Philippe acts… differently. Recently, they came with the?Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524, an unusual (from Patek’s standards) pilot watch or with the Ref. 5960/1A, a sporty steel annual calendar chronograph with coloured accents. They also came with the Nautilus, a now classic watch that wasn’t so classic after all (back in 1976 of course). However, Patek Philippe also knows how to do what collectors expect from them – and this year, they are bringing to us what we will dare to call a proper vintage-inspired timepiece: the classic, high-end, complicated and super-elegant?Patek Philippe Ref 5370 Split-Seconds Chronograph.BackgroundIf you look closely at the Patek 5370, you’ll see that everything in it is reminiscent of past creations, starting from the dial, the indexes, the hands, the complication used or the shape of the case. This watch feels like buried during the 1940s and dug?out just because the hardcore collect
