Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin 26586IP.OO.1240IP.01, based RD2 Concept (Specs & Price)
Last year, at the SIHH 2018, Audemars Piguet presented a case study, a concept watch made to show the brand’s savoir-faire in terms of watchmaking: the Royal Oak #RD2, also known as the world’s thinnest self-winding perpetual calendar. Impressively complex inside and very familiar outside (clearly it had all the traits of a Royal Oak watch), we knew this piece was not going to remain a concept for long… And here it is. Meet the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin.Based on the RD#2The race for ultra-thin is one hot topic these days, with a battle between newcomer Bvlgari and long-term expert Piaget. In just half a decade, the Italians managed to break five world records, the other recently presented the thinnest mechanical watch ever made… However, these two aren’t the only masters of thinness on the scene and Audemars Piguet has, for some decades now, savoir-faire in this field. The latest proof of this expertise came in the
Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Stainless Steel "Ed White" // Price
Today is Tuesday so if you were expecting a new watch…it had to be a Speedmaster. And guess what, you’re about to be served. After the reintroduction of the historical chronograph Calibre 321, the same one that was in the original 1957 Speedmaster and that was tested by NASA, and the platinum watch with this movement inside, Omega surprises us with another great novelty, again with this same movement, but in a much more desirable package. Meet the new Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Stainless Steel, or the “Ed White” re-edition.Omega Speedmaster 105.003 a.k.a. Ed WhiteThe new Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Steel is based on the classic “straight lugs” case offered by Omega with the FOIS edition, as well as the recent CK2998 Blue or CK2998 Pulsometer. But, on the contrary to these two previous watches, there are some major differences in mechanics (obviously, as they were all powered by the classic 1861) but also in terms of design. As such, this Moo
Introducing Riskers Prolog I and Chapter I - Value Proposition Launching on Kickstarter (Hands-On, Specs & Price)
The watch industry is undergoing a transformation. Multiple young microbrands have popped up on the scene, relying on crowdfunding to launch their (interesting or not) projects. New on the scene is a brand named Riskers, a French venture with models inspired by trench military watches, modernized for the occasion. But what's special about Riskers, apart from the watches, is the people behind the project – and that says a lot about the current state of the industry. Let's have a look at the Riskers Prolog I and Chapter I.Behind this new French brand are people with quite some background. In fact, it is the result of former Richemont Group (owner of Cartier, JLC, IWC, Lange and many more) executives teaming up to launch a watch brand on Kickstarter! Clearly unconventional. Going by the name of Riskers, the company was co-founded by Pierre Guerrier, who worked as part of Richemont’s marketing services for Piaget, and serial entrepreneur, Thomas No?l. Piaget Polo FortyFive Two-Tones Perpetual Calendar - The hidden qualities of a sports watch - Monochrome Watches
When Piaget decided to take the legendary Polo out of its precious metal solitude they did a very thorough job. They made the case a contemporary 45mm in diameter, hence its name; Polo FortyFive. To prevent that you need serious muscle in order to wear this watch they made it from titanium. Only the famous?gadroons?are made of steel (except on the Two-Tones Perpetual Calendar). This change gives the Polo a fresh, yet still recognizable face. To make the watch even more contemporary Piaget added the option for a rubber strap (that suits the watch very well). Main attraction for this watch is of course the perpetual calendar complication. Like with all Pia
First Look: The New 39mm PVD-Gold Edition of the Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole
The cool Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole is back! Dating back to models from the 1960s, this evocative name was used for several Rado models, in particular, travel watches with a world time bezel – while the Captain Cook name immediately refers to the brand’s vintage-inspired dive watches. The Over-Pole came back in 2022 as a steel limited edition and part of the Captain Cook collection. For 2025, we get a yellow gold PVD-coated version. Slightly larger but with the same classic adventure charm, it continues to evoke the romance of vintage travel.A relatively loyal reinterpretation of classic Over-Pole world timers, this new limited edition differs from the 2022 series by its yellow gold colour, which further imbues the design with a retro feel but with enlarged dimensions. Still, its polished gold PVD-coated stainless steel case remains relatively compact at 39mm in diameter (versus 37mm for the previous re-edition), with a reasonable thickness of 10.9mm. The domed sapphire cr
