Introducing: The New Moritz Grossmann Benu Heritage Power Reserve Salmon
The brand Moritz Grossmann comes from the renowned German watchmaker Carl Moritz Grossmann, who founded the original company in 1854. Today, Moritz Grossmann is one of the few watch manufacturers based in Glashutte that keeps the German watchmaking tradition alive along with the neighbouring A. Lange & Sohne, Glashutte Original, Nomos, etc. We recently reviewed the Moritz Grossmann Power Reserve Vintage, a stylish watch that perfectly blends classic elegance, contemporary aesthetics and technological innovation. Today we are happy to present another Grossmann creation, the Benu Heritage Power Reserve Salmon, with a slightly different look and feel.Moritz Grossmann watch designs, the Benu Heritage family included, are characterized by clean lines, refined dials, and balanced proportions, and the new Benu Power Reserve Salmon is exemplary. The three-part stainless steel case measures 41mm in diameter and 11.65mm high. It features a delicate filigree bezel that turns attention to the
Introducing the AP Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon 26730
If you were to ask anyone to describe a typical Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, you would most likely hear elements like the octagonal case/bezel, integrated bracelet, and a blue Tapisserie dial. And they’d be right, of course, but the APRO can be much more than that. Signified as the granddaddy of the luxury sports watch, penned by industry legend Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak is one of the most popular watches ever made. Over time, many iterations have come and gone, but every now and then Audemars Piguet manages to change it up to such an extent it feels fresh and exciting all over again. Such is the case with two new and quietly launched versions of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon 26730, in white or rose gold with dimple dials. We’ve seen it numerous times over the past year; watch brands not communicating on new releases, silently updating the collection on the website, and calling it a day. It happened with the Omega CK 859 for instance, but also w
Hands-On: The Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8
Last Tuesday (of course), Omega presented its latest Speedmaster model, the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8. As an updated version of an existing model, the watch felt highly familiar at first sight. Presented in 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the mission that first observed the other side of our satellite (and also the first human spaceflight to reach the Moon…), this DSOTM Apollo 8 was characterized by its lunar texture on both sides and its bold black and yellow colour scheme. With the new model, it seems that not much has changed, apart from a seconds hand shaped like Saturn V and an updated movement. But is it really that simple? Let’s dive into the details.?Quick recap New movement – calibre 3869, based on the calibre 3861 with Co-Axial escapement, silicon hairspring and Master Chronometer certification Slightly reshaped case, still at 44.25mm in diameter, but 0.8mm thinner New bezel without SLN but with tachymeter scale in enamel Better-de
Romain Grosjean's Richard Mille RM 011 NTPT Lotus F1 - Monochrome Watches
Earlier this year Formula One driver Romain Grosjean was added to Richard Mille’s stable of top sporters, or official partner’s as they prefer to call them. Grosjean will be wearing, and thus testing, the?new RM 011 Lotus F1 Team-Romain Grosjean?automatic flyback chronograph movement in the colors of the British racing team. The case is made of NTPT carbon, a new, light and ultra strong?material exclusive to Richard Mille. We had a closer look the case and its production.?During the practice laps, qualification laps and the race, Romain Grosjean?will wear?his watch outside his overalls! There it will be subjected to knocks, vibrations and lots, and lots of G-forces!?Everything has to work perfectly, including a relatively simple part of the watch: the strap. Just imagine the risk when that strap breaks during the race and the watch flying/falling in a random direction. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Tudor Black Bay Black Bezel / Red Triangle 79220N - EXCLUSIVE HANDS-ON REVIEW (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
The Tudor Black Bay is undoubtably a success story. You can’t deny its beauty, its quality or its darn right coolness. We loved?it at first sight here, on Monochrome-Watches, whether in its first Burgundy / Red 79220R execution?and even more with the?Midnight Blue 79220B edition, with it’s more subdued?colour?pallet. With the latest novelties from the brand?(Pelagos & North Flag), we we concerned Tudor may not continue to the?evolution?of the Black Bay – but thankfully, they didn’t, and we now have now a new edition, the Tudor Black Bay Black Bezel / Red Triangle ref. 79220N. And here is our?exclusive hands-on review of it.Designed by / for Monochrome-Watches?Well, clearly this is presumptuous of us. Of course, we didn’t designed it and we didn’t participate in the conception of this new?Tudor Black Bay Black Bezel / Red Triangle 79220N. However, let’s rewind and look back a few weeks before Baselword 2014. If you’re a regular reader
