Weekly Watch Photo - Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 5402 - Monochrome Watches
A Weekly Watch Photo that is perfect in every way.?A beautiful watch, a beautiful photo, all in monochrome colors and at the right moment. Why? Well, Audemars Piguet just announced a?special Royal Oak Jumbo to celebrate 10th anniversary of the Purists Pro watch forum. The photo below shows the ‘real deal’, the ‘real McCoy’, a watch that’s high on the wish-list of many watch collectors (including me). It is?the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo reference 5402. Ad - Scroll to continue with article These vintage Royal Oak Jumbo’s are very difficult to find and if you find one, be prepared to pay a serious price. I prefer this vintage Jumbo (ref 5402) over the newer Jumbo (ref 15202), because of the finer ‘clous-de-paris’ dial. The photo above shows the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 5402??A-Serie from a private collector (wh
Hermes H08 Deep Blue Titanium (Specs & Price)
Released in 2021, the Hermes H08 collection has been a rather good surprise. Here, at MONOCHROME, we tend to focus on true watchmaking brands, and Hermes, a luxury powerhouse offering multiple product ranges, isn’t necessarily our primary topic. Still, the H08 watch caught our attention with its mix of fluid design, multiple textures and sporty-chic vibe. This watch and its assertive style are now coming back in a new, colourful edition with the Hermes H08 Deep Blue Titanium. The idea of coloured cases seems to gradually grow amongst designers. Recently, Cartier launched a blue-coated edition of its Santos, resulting in what’s probably the most appealing edition of this watch. Hermes is now following suit with a watch that is entirely dark – either blue or black – for a new, cool style. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Design is certai
SIHH 2017 - Meet The Ultra-Innovative Ulysse Nardin InnoVision 2
SIHH 2017 - Ulysse Nardin is about to make some noise at?its first SIHH, showing off?some seriously cutting-edge technology. The watch you're about to see is nothing like anything you've seen before. Every part of this watch boasts an innovation, whether we’re talking about the escapement, the display, the winding system or even the hands. Meet InnoVision 2, a concept watch featuring avant-garde innovations that will?make us rethink the future of mechanical watchmaking. Founded in 1846, Ulysse Nardin has a long tradition in the field of chronometry and is well known for manufacturing accurate marine chronometers. In the early 1980s, an?encounter between Rolf W. Schnyder, a businessman and visionary, and Ludwig Oechslin, a brilliant horologist, turned this traditional manufacturer into one of the most innovative watch brands around. This partnership?would yield?several milestones in mechanical watchmaking history. Among these, the legendary Freak housing the innovative dual direct
Cousteau and the Timepieces of the Calypso team - Part 2 - Monochrome Watches
Yesterday we gave a view into the world of diving watches, and specifically the very beginning (check it here). While today’s dive watches are mainly used for ‘desk-diving’ – as collectors refer to the wrist time that their dive watches get in the office – and hardly get in contact with the salty sea water that they are designed for, this category of watches remains very popular. However back in the 1950’s and 1960’s people like Jacques-Yves Cousteau did ground-breaking work researching and developing, together with a number of watch companies, the necessary properties?for dive watches. In those days, dive watches were life-saving tools; something that is in strong contrast with today’s main use of this category of watches. This morning we start with the actual watches that Cousteau and his team wore during the 1960’s. This afternoon we’ll tell you all about their watches in the 1970’s and 1980’s.?Lets Talk about W
TAG Heuer reveals the Carrera Middle East L.E. during Dubai Watch Week
TAG Heuer combines two things into a single Carrera launched during Dubai Watch Week. On the one hand, we have Arabic hour numerals, and on the other, we have a luscious emerald green dial. The colour green is highly symbolic in Islamic culture; green represents hope, harmony and prosperity. It has been a very “on-trend” colour and one that doesn’t show signs of letting up anytime soon. Regardless of what you think of the trend, there’s no denying that a well-made green dial can look very good. Let’s take a look at the new TAG Heuer Carrera Middle East Limited Edition. The Carrera by TAG Heuer needs little introduction. Its roots can be traced back to 1953 when Heuer (long before becoming TAG Heuer) produced the 404 series of watches. This chronograph watch was dedicated to the Carrera Panamericana endurance race and evolved into what we now know as the Carrera. First introduced in 1963, the Carrera remains one of the oldest named collections in TAG Heuer
