Creux Automatiq Sports Luxury Watch Review (Specs & Price)
One of the major trends for?2016 has been the arrival of new-comers to?the market – new brands, created?from scratch, mainly driven by?crowd-funding (see all those affordable “Kickstarter” campaigns), with some of them showing highly interesting concepts. This trend will most definitely continue in 2017, believe us. However, most of these new projects are focused?on affordable, non-Swiss-Made watches – something that we do?not necessarily dislike here at Mono but a bit of good-old Helvetic quality is always welcomed. With that in mind,?here is the?Creux Automatiq Watch, a clever play on the luxury sports watch concept, Swiss-Made, qualitative, yet an affordable alternative?to certain well-known luxury watches you?might have in mind. The story behind?Creux AutomatiqCreux Automatiq was formed by?the minds behind the luxury diamond jewellery specialists known as Culet Jewellery, a company based in Sydney, Australia.?Dane Rumble, watch enthusiast and owner of?Culet J
Hands-On: The New Titanium Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days
Even though it didn’t break records like so many watches in the fascinating Octo Finissimo collection, the Skeleton 8 Days is, nonetheless, quite an impressive watch, to say the least. Managing to extract close to 200 hours of energy from a movement that features a single barrel and that measures only 2.5mm in height is nothing but spectacular. First released in a luxurious gold version with anthracite grey movement and worn on a leather strap, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days comes back this year in the signature monochromatic style of the collection, with its integrated bracelet and made of titanium all around.?In the ever-growing Octo Finissimo collection, Bulgari’s modern and highly technical take on ultra-thin watchmaking, we’ve had time-only Automatics, GMT Chronographs, Tourbillons, Minute Repeaters, Perpetual Calendars and more. And the more here personifies with a watch that has, for a few months, been the thinnest mechanical timepiece ever created.
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Bucherer Blue Edition (Specs & Price)
Customized, special editions sold only through a single (branch of) boutiques is a common thing, but few do it as regularly as Bucherer. The Swiss watch retail house has introduced several striking collaborations – no less than 25 in total with 14 different brands. To name just a few, the Tudor Black Bay Bronze, the IWC ?Portugieser Chronograph Classic?or the H. Moser & Cie. Venturer Small Second,?for instance. All received the “Bucherer Blue” makeover and next in line is the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Bucherer Blue Edition.A Bucherer Blue Edition is always (spoiler alert) blue – and the retailer's take on the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe is no exception. The colour fits the overall concept behind the watch well, considering the unique tone used in the watch is a Bucherer signature and blue echoes the maritime background of Blancpain. The Fifty Fathoms is, of course, the iconic dive watch introduced by Blancpain in 1953, at a time when dive w
Video - Hands-On with the The Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon
A couple of weeks ago, the MONOCHROME team visited Geneva Watch Days, which will probably be the only major watch fair for Europe this year. On this occasion, we visited brands, talked with their teams and, of course, saw some of the models recently introduced in the metal – and yes, after months of digital-only presentations, this really made a difference. And of course, some watches made quite an impression on us, such as the new Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon, a bold, radical and modern take on the brand’s new design codes. And with our latest video, you can also discover this watch in motion. To explain this new high-end, complex and striking watch, we talk to Ulysse Nardin’s Chief Product Officer, Jean-Christophe Sabatier, giving us the full story on how the brand developed this new movement, how the watch was designed and how – something quite rare – both elements have been, from the very beginning, imagined jointly, and not as separate parts. In fact
